Air Fryer Boneless Pork Bites

Prepackaged products are something I rarely buy, but there are a few that are good. A few years ago I found a brand of dry boneless pork bites that didn’t contain a bunch of ingredients that I couldn’t pronounce. I tried them and the oven method created a very good product. Over the years I have bought them to make sweet and sour pork. They are a good cheat for sweet and sour pork and the only drawback was the oven cooking time. I found them on sale a couple of weeks ago and was surprised to see air fryer cooking instructions. Ten minutes in the air fryer from frozen makes them the perfect cheat for sweet and sour pork.

The air fryer worked great for this, the oven method works but not as well as the air fryer. The ten minutes was perfect and all I did was toss them a little with four minutes left.

You can use any sweet and sour sauce recipe you like for this. We have been using this sweet and sour sauce recipe for about forty years. It works great with any recipe that calls for a sweet and sour sauce. I added onion and red pepper to it this time. You can add just about anything and simmer it until it’s cooked in the sauce. Mushrooms and pineapple are also great in the sauce.

The sesame seeds were just to kind of make it look pretty LOL.

SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup vinegar

1/3 cup ketchup

cornstarch slurry

Mix everything together and bring to a boil. Thicken with the cornstarch slurry adding a little at a time until it’s the thickness you want. Simmer for 10 minutes, if you add vegetables simmer for about 20 minutes until vegetables are cooked.
