Two Things That Tell You That You Made Great Fried Chicken

I’ve talked a lot on my blog about my dislike for chicken, it’s all true for the most part. Of course there are some exceptions, certain chicken dishes I actually like. Chinese sesame chicken, and fried chicken to name a couple. Both I even have fun cooking, mainly because it takes time to make them correctly. Making both I just have fun in the kitchen and having fun cooking is a great thing.

Last night I made fried chicken for supper, that’s the fourth time this year. We did buy Popeyes once also, but my wife still says mine is better. For me fried chicken is always a two day thing because the chicken needs to marinate in the buttermilk for at least 24 hours. The first step to making good fried chicken is what you add to the buttermilk when you’re marinating the chicken. The coating is the last part of the puzzle to have it taste good. My recipe for both is already on my blog.

So what are the two things that tell you that the fried chicken you made was great. The first one, and most important one for me, was what my wife said. Just after she started eating it she said ” this is delicious ” and that is the greatest compliment anyone who cooks can ever get. The second is when you have the leftovers cold the next day and you wish you had more of it to eat. Two pieces were my lunch today and I wish I could of had two more. So I guess I will take what my wife said later last night as a fact. Was nice to hear I make great fried chicken, especially coming from my greatest critic.

    What about Grandma’s Creamed Chicken. I know it is a lot of work but so good and was the only chicken my Dad liked.

    • Thanks for reminding me about the creamed chicken Cathy. I have the recipe, it’s on the same piece of paper with the finnan haddie recipe. It must be 35 years since I have made either one. Will go through the tub of recipes, think there’s about 600 recipes in the tub. The creamed chicken is a very good recipe.
