Saturday, Our First Family Meal In A Year

We are a getting together for our first family meal in a year this Saturday. It a “normal” August thing for us to have a joint birthday supper for our son and daughter. To say we are excited about it is a complete understatement. Finally we get to have a family meal and to have a birthday supper that was such a normal thing for us.

Normal for this supper would of been me asking them what they wanted and my cooking it. Not this year, this year I am making it a little better than roast beef or hamburgers. They’re just going to have to eat what I am cooking. Since it has been so long since I’ve gotten to cook a family meal I decided on something different. This is kind of my making the parts of the meal tie together. Stuffed pork loin, onion mushroom gravy, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and strawberry spinach salad, there will also be steamed broccoli for the kids.

I will post what the ingredients are for each part of the meal but not the quantities because I am cooking for 16 hungry people. The ingredients for each will show how it ties together to makes a cohesive meal. Yes because I am a little goofy I am making every single part of it myself even the lemon poppy seed dressing. Will start on things tomorrow and yes it is going to be the most fun I have had in a year.

Will sneak some pictures to put this the post and hopefully kids don’t laugh at me to much. Will likely be late Saturday evening or Sunday morning before I post it all.
