Once a year I give into my inner carnivore and just have a big steak and mushrooms. Today was that day for me. I try and tell myself that they mushrooms with green onions and garlic are vegetables. This is not the healthiest thing to eat and thankfully it’s only once a year. I don’t know why it’s so satisfying to just fill up on meat and mushrooms, but it is. I know everyone has their own way to bbq steak and that’s a good thing. Mushrooms I do a little differently and have done it for probably 30 years. So no recipe for steak this is just about the mushrooms.
8 large mushrooms thickly sliced
1 green onion chopped
5 cloves garlic minced
2 teaspoons butter
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste
Preheat a frying pan on medium high heat. Add the mushrooms, salt, pepper, and the water, cook stirring often until the water has evaporated. Reduce heat to medium low and add the butter, when butter is melted add garlic and onions. Cook for about 8 minutes stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to simmer and add soy sauce and mix well. Simmer for 2 minutes and serve.
