Steak Spices

AB1122B8-58C7-4F8F-828D-452F066DB2B1A steak that is bbqed is something I look forward to having all summer long. Steak spice mixes are something I use occasionally. It isn’t because I don’t like the taste they give a steak, it’s because most are to coarse. With them it is hard to get an even coating, and half the spices come off when you bbq a steak. Montreal Steak Spice has been my choice when I use something, but it has the same problem for me. The Webers I got for fathers day has a great taste, but is also coarse. Over years I have tried a lot of different brands but the only one I found that wasn’t coarse was Hy’s. Local restaurant that market their spice blend which is a fine mix. Problem for me was it’s way to salty. So over the years I have tried a bunch of way to make Montreal Steak Spice in a fine product. Thought about buying a coffee grinder and using it but that seemed like over kill. Finally I have a great solution and is it every a simple one. One of the things I received on father’s day was a new pepper grinder, and it’s a great one. My old pepper grinder was a good one, so just made use of it to grind the steak spice. It works perfectly and I get a fine grind that I have been looking for. Sad part is I have put 2 other pepper grinders in the trash over the years. Sometimes the simplest solution is right in front of us and we just don’t see it.

  1. Montreal steak seasoning is the best. As you say, it’s coarse but I like that sometimes. The pepper grinder is a good solution.
