Another Successful Weekly Shopping Trip

Our weekly shopping trips we are finally getting use to. It’s surprising how efficient we have gotten at sanitizing everything we bring home. We have it down to about 10 minutes and honestly it’s not a bad thing. It’s actually kind of nice to know that everything in our house is safe. It makes it very clear that it is something we should of been doing before covid 19. If you think about it, how many times have we gotten colds and the flu because we get the germs from  things we bought. Since I hate even having a cold sanitizing things will continue even after covid 19 is history.

I am tired of chicken and pork and got lucky shopping. Found top sirloin cap steaks at a very good price. If you have ever seen a whole sirloin steak it has 3 parts. The bottom sirloin, top sirloin, and the cap. Since I spent to much time in my youth around  butchers, the cap has the most flavour and is the most tender part. They may be small and I need 3 of them, next to a rib steak they are my favorite steak. Was hoping to bbq them for supper but it is to be raining by 4 this afternoon. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day and I can finally have something I really like for supper.

  1. I have never seen that cut…but when next I buy beef I will butcher that out to try.

    • If you ask, even at supermarket, the butcher will keep them for you. Most get cut off and put in extra lean ground beef. For some strange reason they trim them to make it look good in the packaging. The butchers in the supermarkets end up buying them for their bbqing.

      • Here in Costa Rica I puzzle my butcher a great deal…so I end up buying large cuts and butchering them myself…I took a course years ago with a master butcher when adult education in the U.K. offered such things and his lessons stuck.
Off to my butcher at the end of the week to see what I can do.
You should see his face when I ask for suet…he thinks it is for dubbining boots….but he likes the mince pies it makes!

      • LOL. I remember the same thing asking for suet in Winnipeg. Was told it would be the next time they were butchering a half because they put it in the trash.
