Clean Out The Fridge Day

The weekend is coming and we will go shopping so it’s time to clean the fridge. The way I cook means there is always parts of things that don’t get used. Some weeks I get lucky and everything gets used. This week I know that’s not the case. I have know idea what supper will end up being. That will depend on what I find this afternoon in the fridge and cupboard. I admit that clean out the fridge days are the days I have the most fun in the kitchen. Normally I think about what to make in the morning, come up with a plan and then make it. That is a different kind of fun. Today it’s just open the fridge, pull stuff out, start cooking and figure out what the end result will be on the fly. So supper tonight will be a surprise even for me.

As long as it’s cleaning out to make use of things and not because things are living in the fridge now. 😀

It’s been a week where I did very little cooking and pretty much cleaned out the odds and ends as I went along. When I can see through to the bottom shelf of my fridge, it’s a GOOD thing. 🙂

Saturday is grocery shopping day and I’ve been keeping a running list besides my desktop upstairs so I can write down ideas for my weekend cook. And check the sales flyer for good deals so I can adjust as needed. Cooking for one and keeping on budget can be a challenge.

Yes our fridge is looking kind of empty, Sunday is our shopping day. Took a quick look at the flyers yesterday, will go thru them tomorrow and figure out what to buy then and make a list. We are lucky all 4 of the major grocery store are within a mile of us. 3 are only about 300 hundred yards apart. We pick the deals up from each of them.
