There is always that little bit of jam that you can’t get out of the jar. If you recycle like we do it gets rinsed out of the jar and goes down the drain. There is a better thing you can do to clean the jar. Make salad dressing in the jar. It doesn’t matter what type of jam it is, you just end up with different flavours. Here is the recipe I use.
Jam jar with that little bit of jam in it
1 and 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 and 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon grainy mustard
Put every thing in the jar, put the lid on and shake it as hard a you can. Do this in the morning and leave it on the counter, every time your in the kitchen shake it again. Use it for supper.
You can add garlic, shallots, herbs or what ever you like. I add different things depending on what we are having. You can also use 2 teaspoons of liquid honey when you don’t have the just about empty Jam jar. Lemon juice can be switched with different vinegar’s. For larger amount just double or triple the quantities, it will keep in the fridge for a week. .
You can also use it to marinate chicken, beef, pork, wild game, or even fish. With fish you only want to marinate it for 30 to 45 minutes.
